FAQs

Do I need a referral?

Physiotherapists are first contact practioner’s therefore a doctors referral is not usually necessary.  However a GP referral is required if you are a client of:

  • Department of Veterans’s Affairs (DVA) Gold or white card holder,

  • Third Party Insurance (TPI)

  • Workcover

  • Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM), formerly Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) programs.

Are the costs covered by my Private Health Fund?

Physio@home is able to offer health fund claiming through medipass, allowing physiotherapy treatments to be claimed for most private health funds. This means that you only have to pay the gap amount via credit card at the time of treatment. If your health fund isn’t registered with medipass then you will be required to pay the full amount and then send your receipt to your health insurer to receive a refund from them. If you prefer to pay at a later date, medipass only allows health fund claims on the day of the treatment, thus you will be required to pay the full amount, then claim the rebate directly from the health insurer.
